MANILA, Philippines - Philippine retail giant Bench ends weeks of speculation by finally announcing that South Korean superstar Lee Min Ho is the latest endorser for Bench and Bench Fix. Lee Min Ho is famous for his role as Gu Jun Pyo in the K-drama phenomenon Boys Over Flowers. The drama, a Korean adaptation of Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango (from which the famous Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden was also adapted), was a global hit, which catapulted Lee Min Ho to superstardom. Just like Boys Over Flowers, the actor’s succeeding drama projects, Personal Preference and City Hunter, scored high ratings in Korea and earned him numerous awards. All three dramas were hits when aired by ABS-CBN on Philippine primetime TV. In fact, due to the drama’s success, the network aired City Hunter for a second run.
Towering above six feet, the handsome actor is one of today’s most in-demand stars in South Korea. His portfolio of endorsements includes a multitude of products from clothes to beverages, food, cars, electronics and even cosmetics for top Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and American brands. His contract with Bench further cements Bench’s position as the top global Philippine retailer and will definitely put the brand in the spotlight by introducing it to the star’s huge and loyal worldwide fanbase.
A few weeks ago representatives from Bench flew to Seoul to finalize the actor’s contract and oversee his photo shoot for Bench and Bench Fix. LA Consing Lopez handled the styling at the then-top-secret photo shoot. The highly anticipated Bench ads show Lee Min Ho in casual chic clothing that emphasizes a lot of color and attention to details. You’ll see him sporting playful colored Bench denim, uniquely designed button-downs, and limited-edition graphic tees (must-have items for die-hard fans).
In addition to endorsing Bench clothing Lee Min Ho is also the newest face of Bench Fix. His flawless skin, symmetrical facial features and overall charisma make him the perfect model for Bench’s line of beauty and grooming products. The items highlighted in his endorsement for Bench Fix include his personal favorites: Claydoh Lite Molding Clay, which defines and adds texture to give hair a matte finish; Hairlastic Flexible Fibers, which creates free-forming hairstyles; and the Grunged Up Matte Molding Wax, which creates stylish tousled hair with a natural matte layered finish. All three were used to create Lee Min Ho’s different looks for the Bench campaign. The actor was very pleased with the clothes and hair products, testament to the brand’s top-notch quality and style.
Lee Min Ho is currently busy filming his latest K-drama Faith, a fusion drama that merges historical and modern-day components. He plays a Goryeo-era warrior who crosses paths with a 21st-century plastic surgeon who was kidnapped and transported 700 years into the past for her healing skills. Faith makes its Korean TV premiere this August.
Lee Min Ho is the latest addition to the Bench roster of international stars which includes Bruno Mars, David Archuleta, Vampire Diaries star Michael Trevino, Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale, Joe Jonas, and Liam Hemsworth. He joins Super Junior’s Choi Siwon and Lee Donghae as the third Korean top star to represent the global brand.
